To My Fans

I would like to send a shout out to all my followers and all those who have seen my blog.  I know I haven’t published much lately, but I am getting more involved with the SCA now, and that should help inspire some more creativity.  I have been working on a book, and sewing has taken a back burner, but I would like to say to all my fans, thank you, from the bottom of my heart thank you.  This blog would not be as much fun without you.  So to another year of crafty ideas, and crazy costumes I say, mad hats off to 2012, one month almost gone, and 11 more to go.

Again Thank You for reading, and I hope my blog inspires people to get creative.

I found this cool pattern online and decided to make it into a scarf.  I like it so far, only a few mistakes.  However it will look really nice when it is done.  I fear however I may be one skein short.  I just hope I can still get another.  Any ways, it is a cable knit with a wide cable in the middle and two small roll cables as I call them on the side.  I looked so cool in the picture I had to give it a try.  So far I think it is looking like the picture.  I will post pictures of the scarf when they will load.  I’m having problems with that right now.  Wo I’ll post pictures later.

Bringing in the New Year

I know I haven’t posted in a while.  I feel a little guilty about that, but I have been a very busy person.  I have been working hard at Melina’s Bistro and Coffeehouse.  I have taken up the violin, I used to play and have taken it up again.  I love that instrument.  It has a beautiful voice, I love playing it.  I have purchased some pieces to make steampunk necklaces with.  I hope to have them on Etsy by mid January.  I also hope to have some bodies, as they are called, or underpinings for tudor gowns on etsy by the end of January.  I worked hard this summer on Tudor Gowns, and now that I have had a chance to rest I plan to jump back in head first.  I will post more soon.  Until then enjoy the rest of the year.

Happy New Year

Renaissance 2011

The fest went off without a hitch, and there were no costume malfunctions.  It was a great day at the Fair.  I have pictures below of the great sites, doublets, and gowns of this year’s last day of festivities.  It was fun to see all the beautiful gowns, and experience the fun; I even tried the Mead, very tasty.

I made five costumes for this year’s fair, Anne is in the Blue and Yellow Anne Boleyn gown, Monica is in the Blue Velvet and Purple Satin Lady Jane gown, April is in the Red and Black gown inspired by a portrait of an unknown lady I found, Connor is in a kilt to match close to his families tartan, the costumes were perfect.

From left to right: myself, Anne, April, Monica, and Connor.

The Fair was in a calm hectic state for the last day of the season.  The Joust was divine as was Sir William.  I got some great shots of us around the fair, including these of us with Sir William.

Last day at fair brought some great goods and wonderful additions to the previously glorious costumes.  I will be posting price quotes for the custom gowns with pictures of the styles on Etsy, check back soon for the listing.  Ran in to the King and Queen of the Fest, and was greeted with the greatest respect, and greeted them with the same said respect.  They seemed to be enjoying the last day as much as I did.

Queen and King

I stopped at some great shops and had some wonderful food.  The patrons seemed to be as excited about the festivities as the Court and vendors were.  Here are some great pictures of the gowns seen along the way.

Ladies from the Rest Area we had stopped at on the way to RenFest.

It was a wonderful day at the Renaissance Festival, hope to see many new faces next year.

A great sites to see is the Iron Dragon.

He is a great beast, who likes people to be near him, or pet him, but be ware his breath is hot and smells bad. Oh and don’t get too close when he has a cold, he could singe your shirt.

Anne stopped by to see a man about some wood,

and I took a step into the Jacket shop

From one Renaissance Festival parton to another, “Be of the era, or be not of the era, what ever the casemay be, have an enjoyable day.”

Tina’s materials.

I have Monica’s gown done, all that remains is to put on the
finishing touches, which Monica is working on.

Mine is also done, I am adding the extras to mine, and will
post pictures of the gowns when they are done.
I will also post pictures of the Kilt I have to make, and the peasant attire
I still need to work on.

I will post pictures of all the costumes on October 3.  Until then

Enjoy and Craft away.

Steampunk Circus

The float for Melina’s Bistro went well, and the costumes for the float were great.  They looked very steampunk, especially the Ringmaster who was portrayed by my friend Anne.  She wore the red coat and top hat that states ringmaster, tied with a turn of the centruy ruffle skirt it make the outfit perfect.

this is Anne beside the float and the sign for a sandwich at Melina’s Bistro.

Then there was the Trapeeze Artist portrayed by my cousin Kayla, she wore all black and flats with feathers, very true to the time with great face makeup to complete the look.

Here is Kayla, very in character of the arialist, she was Melina’s Toss, a delectable salad found only at Melina’s Bistro.

We also had clowns, the one seen below is my Aunt Donna, she wore a costume pieced together from fabric I had around the house, with a wig of yarn and a hat I found with my costume items.

Here she is seen with the sign for the freak show marvel the Fiesta Chicken, which is a panini sandwich served only at Melina’s Bistro.  It is very good.

Last but not least, is the Lion Tammer, me.  I put together this costume from others I had to create the look of the great Lion Tammer’s of the past I found pictures of women who tammed the lions in the 20′s and decided to base my outfit on one specific picture, seen below.

the woman in this picture inspired the one blow…The simplicity of the outfit made it look great, the boots finished the arite, and I still haven’t found my lion, but he is most likely at Melina’s Bistro.

Find The Missing Lion is a drink, it is a Caramel Hazelnut Iced Latte.  Very good and just what is needed for a warm summer day.

Like Melina’s Bistro on face book to see more pictures of the float and the costumes.  Also stay tuned for Renaissance Dress pictures they are getting under way, I have two dresses and a kilt to make this year.  I will be posting more custum costumes on Etsy so keep checking for great designs and looks that will draw even a queen’s attention.

Below is a picture of us all.
